Have you been feeling low mood? Low energy? Low motivation? Get sick frequently? Have poor bone health?

It may be a good idea to get your vitamin D levels tested, as vitamin D deficiency can be a cause for all of the above!

Did you know Naturopathic doctors can administer vitamin D injections?

I've made various posts on vitamin D before, on my social media, because it's one of those vitamins most people are deficient in. It's actually more of a hormone than a vitamin. Improving vitamin D levels in your body can have significant health benefits.

Vitamin D helps us absorb calcium better so that we can have stronger and healthier bones. Vitamin D helps strengthen our immune system so that we don't get sick frequently. Vitamin D helps us build and maintain a healthy nervous system so that we maintain optimal cognitive functions as we age. Vitamin D helps fight Seasonal Affective Disorder!

Most of us are deficient in Vitamin D because of multiple reasons:

1) We don't get enough sun exposure. Most of us don't go out as much during winter, and even if you go out often, people are usually covered up and so our skin doesn't get the chance to make this essential vitamin.

2) Not many food sources are sufficient enough in vitamin D, and many people don't eat these food sources frequently enough anyways.

3) Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. This means in order to absorb it, we must have a good digestive system with enough stomach acid and enough bile flow. Most people nowadays are so frequently in stress mode, that they often don't have the best digestive system (even if they don't get digestive complaints). Hence poor fat-soluble vitamins absorption.

Because I work a lot with people who suffer from poor digestion, injecting vitamin D right into fatty tissue helps in that we can inject higher doses that are not available through oral supplementation, and we can completely bypass the hindered digestive system.
