Initial Visits

The initial naturopathic visit can range from 1 to 1.5 hours long. During this naturopathic visit, medical history details are reviewed and analyzed. Any available blood work is reviewed and analyzed. Also, necessary non-invasive physical exams are completed. A customized treatment plan is the end result of your first visit.

If you don't have labwork (general blood work/specialized testing), or don't have access to it, Dr. Alami may send you for necessary blood work or request a release of records from your family physician.

When, and for how long, to follow up will be discussed at the end of the visit, as it depends on the case. Some people may need to follow up sooner than others.

Follow ups

Follow up durations are dependent on case by case basis. General follow up durations range from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. During your follow up, updates on your health concerns are reviewed, and your response to the treatment plan is also reviewed. If blood work was ordered, it will be thoroughly explained and taken into consideration in any treatment plan modifications.

If everything is progressing well, we may add to the treatment plan so to improve treatment outcome. Otherwise, the treatment plan is modified to help improve tolerability, compliance, and efficacy.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture visits are 45 minutes long. Dr. Alami will walk you through your first acupuncture visit step by step in order to make the experience more comfortable. Follow up acupuncture sessions will generally begin with a tongue and pulse assessment, after which the acupuncture treatment will begin. Once all needles are in place, there is a short review of health concerns, after which you begin a relaxing deep breathing meditation to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system.
